    Auto to manual conversion

    Hey guys looking at buying a 98 disco problem is it is auto i figured the box change is the easy part, is there anything i need to do to the computer ? or any other things i should be aware of if i want to convert from auto to manual .

    On a '98 Disco 1 the trans is fully hydraulic, the ECU doesn't go near it.

    Sorry I should have mentioned that it is a 3.9. I have an inject 4.4 Leyland I will most likely transfer as well it cost me $6000 to built and only done 3000 km as I believe it would be cheaper them working the 3.9 to get the same grunt.

    What happened to your white 2dr rangie, went out to Toolangi with you and another group must be 10 years ago.

    I still got it, I cut it down to a flat tray ute. Missed paying the rego about 6 years back so it has been a garden gnome since. That is where I am getting the maxi's motor etc from, I am toying with the 5 inch lift been transferred as well. I was talking to a mate last night he reckons give the auto a go I was worried about engine braking coming down hills with it mainly. I remember that trip has to be ten years now I think Tonka came aswell with the bob tailed yellow hilux I think it was an outer limits 4x4 trip.

    Yeah i think it was an outers trip, auto is fine offroad you just need to adjust your driving style.
