I have 2 sets of roof racks. Set of Rola Racks at the front which are offset and stay on all the time, which allows me to go in underground car parks etc. These I use for the surfboard mainly but I do have a basket which fits for medium trips away.

2nd set which goes on over the rear step when I load both sets up for longer trips away. And yes easier to access from standing on the rear bar or wheel to access than the front bars. Unfortunatley when loaded, car parks can be a problem with this set on also
