Now works, or it worked anyway, just the design feature of it not working with the driver's door open wasn't known?

the gist of it:
jack up, wheel off, support the swivel housing with a stand.
two bolts off the swivel pin, pull it out.
Put the swivel pin back in after removing a shim and torque the bolts.
Check preload/wobble.

You may need to remove a few shims, or you may be unlucky and run out of shims to remove. In which case replace the bearing(s).
