Questions for bee utey if I could.

Did what i could from your list on the 16-Jan. I checked the vac/hose on the fuel pressure reg....OK . Couldn't check the temp sender on the fuel rail.. don't know how, so I disconnected the MAF, NO noticeable difference to performance a all. Would it make a change in how rich the motor was running so as to be noticeable straight away ? so no change it's not working at all OR does it need adjustment...... I hope.... How?? The last suggestion I don't get..." Tune resister near ECU" in the words of that other Red-head... Please explain. I hope I can ask you or indeed anyone that would like to jump in to help this poor sod (me) who nearly faints when it comes time to fill up time.

    Thanks .... John

I'm not talking about the fuel temperature, I'm talking about engine coolant temperature as read by the ECU. There's a 2 wire plug that looks exactly like a fuel injector plug on a temp sensor behind the thermostat housing. You do have a multimeter don't you? Run the engine hot and test the resistance between the two pins of the sensor, it should be around 300 ohms.

If you disconnected the MAF and there's no change to the running, I suggest you look to borrow or buy a good working one. Install the replacement MAF and then start it, it should run much better until you unplug it.

If you read Dougal's thread he talks about the tune resistor, it's in the wiring harness near the ECU. Anything you can't find you refer to the workshop manual I'm sure you've purchased from the shop link above.

Send me your phone number in a personal message if you really want a yarn about all this. BTW I'm no expert on this fuel injection stuff, I just remember things I've read on this forum and elsewhere. Remind yourself that there's a search function on the bottom of every page, your questions have been asked many times already and answered by experts much more skilled than me. I'm just a careful amateur.
