    MAgnecor or not to magnecor?

Seems 9 out of 10 people reckon magnecors are expensive but the best lpg leads to use (3.9 D1). But where do you get them, and are there as good alternatives (was looking maybe at Ozzie made eagle leads)?

Magnecors are fine when in good condition, but I chucked out a set on a customers car last year that he thought were still good. The boots had all become loose and a few had split. No idea how old they were though. I use the plain jane black 8mm Bosch inductive leads because I can buy them individually from Bursons. This saves me having to keep lots of specific kits on the shelf, just a selection of assorted lengths and boot styles. Not only do they work well but they have excellent quality boots that seal well, they're quite splash resistant.

I must write all the D1 lead numbers down one day, but from memory its something like: B60CRi x1 coil lead, B51Ri x1, B58Si x2, B63Si x1, B72Ri x3, B84Ri x1. Mainly straight lead boots to the LH bank and right angled lead boots to the RH bank.

Oh and I don't like Eagle leads because the boots are badly made, too hard to pull off and not as long lasting.

I've got Magnecores on my 4.6 Rover street machine sedan (bought them from Demon Tweeks) and Bosch black leads bought individually from Supercheap on the Disco.

The Magnecores are very well made, I had Top Gun and Eagle 9mm performance leads before and they fell apart after a while (ends detached themselves at the spark plug). But the Bosch are quite adequate for a 4x4 and a fraction of the price.

I had Magnacore on my RRC 3.9 for 13 years and they are sttill on it now AFAIK a year later. There used to be a local cutter and splicer in Sydney called Thundercords but AFAIK gone now.
I have pulled an end off a couple of times but no cracks etc in that time and no misses.
I looked at the coil wound Bosch grey ones in Supercheap and they look good to me but no need to try them now as I have a TD5.LOL. Whether they will last as long as the Magnacore I don't know , but very few people keep their cars for that long.

I hit the 'Thanks' button some days ago to Bee Utey and it's disappeared. So I'll try again in writing - thanks to Bee Utey and all those who've responded. I think I'm sold on Bosch now, not only cos magnecors are so expensive but they're also such a pain to procure ... and no-one seems to have a bad word for the much less expensive Bosch (5.99 ea at Supercheap).

I got my magnacore leads made up by performance ignitions in Nunawading. There are not that much more in cost, I think around $80 for a set. Improved my ability to do water crossings and ran smooth.
