They work on the old principle that "there's one born every minute".![]()
Hey guys
Was just wondering if anyone has ever fitted a hiclone fuel save to there discos and what kind of results have you seen. I've always been skeptical and dismissed them as to good to be true but the first time I saw an ad for them was years ago so I figure they can't be total rubbish otherwise they would have gone out of business by now.
Cheers

There has been some recant discussion on this subject
Time to replace the Hi-clone
But in all seriousness you would be better off investing in the harbour bridge rather than fitting a hiclone. A commodore magazine from the 90's did some testing with a hiclone and a dyno and from memory there were 10 runs 4 showed an increase 4 showed a decrease and on 2 runs there was no change. As a control 10 runs were done without a Hiclone, but with a girlfriend in the passenger seat who had a healthy chest, 6 runs showed an increase and 4 runs with no change. All of the differences recordered were within the error tolerance of the dyno. The conclusion was to avoid Hiclones and get a girlfriend.
I had a 2000 landcruiser 100 Series petrol which was using 18lt /100km no matter what i did so i put one in it ,dropped to 15lt which i thought was a good result.
The principle of the coke can cut with blades in it is to cause a vortex of swirling air as the air is entering the throttle body into the plenum.
So if the hiclone is swirling the air what happens on a V8 under the the plenum cover? Under the plenum cover are 8 trumpets through which the air must flow down, these 8 trumpets would cause an obstruction of the hilconed air swirl.
I thought the mention od Hiclones on this forum was forbidden and 60 lashes of the cat of nine tales was given on anyone who dared to bring it up again![]()
i am amazed that they are still flogging them - i guess the adage mentioned above rings true - there is one born every minute, wish i could come invent something that achieved nothing yet continued to sell 20 years after said invention…..
time for a beer i think to ponder ones lot in life….
