    Hazard Lights Coming On

Last year up Mt Mee forestry way I hit a fair old hole with the left front wheel preeety hard & the hazard lights came on.
Yesterday the same thing happened after hitting a pothole on Zillmere Rd.
They keep flashing with the ignition off (as they should) but stop when the motor is restarted & all is good again.
    It's a '97 TDI
    Any ideas, anyone

Sounds like the inertia switch has been tripped.

X4 it's an annoying trait of Disco1's, and must be pommy designed for "green laning,"????
but here we have ruts and corrugations and unless your diriving are a very low speed they go off. It should also cut your fuel off also if it's working correctly, as its a safety device for collisions. unlock doors, hazards on and cut off fuel pump.

    Thanks for the advice.
I'm surprised that it hasn't triggered more often considering some of the places we've been!!!

Is that just on the V8's though as the TDI is a mechanical lift pump?

I'm sure the D1 needs to have it manually reset.

The same thing happened to my cousin's '98 TDi. We turned the engine off and waited and then back on.... no good; disc'd the battery for 5mins.... still no good; pulled out some fuses... still good, then he mucked around with some switches inside the car (ie: A/C) and that seemed to fix it..... Couldn't find anything in the owners manual relating to it though..... What's the proper procedure to reset this problem....?

IIRC the late D1s (1995+) have the inertia switch at the back of the engine bay on the firewall.
