    Snorkle and gas?.

Since fitting my snorkle my 3.9 disco seems to hunt on light throttle and the accelerator feels different , can the snorkle muck the gas up or is it coincedance
I've turned the ram head back and it seemed better, but only had a short run to try it ????? Gary

A gas converter delivers gas according to the difference in air pressure across the diaphragm, moving a lever in the converter and opening/closing a valve to deliver more/less gas. This means that anything that alters the relative pressures will affect the gas flow. The easiest way to correct for a snorkel is to connect a balance hose from where your snorkel is attached to the air cleaner box, to the point of the converter on the opposite side of the diaphragm to the gas outlet. Most converters have a vent of some sort which either has a hose fitting already fitted or a threaded port you can screw a fitting into. Around 1/2 inch hose is the minimum size suitable.

Of course, as always it helps to know what brand of gas converter you have installed, or putting up a picture thereof.

Garry, when we had a classic Rangie on gas,we were told by the previous owner(RichardK on here) to run the snorkel head back to front when using LPG or disconnect it under the bonnet.

Hi does this pic help....l think I've got the idea of the balance pipe but getting it into the snorkel side will be very tricky

Or is it just as easy to leave the snorkel head backwards

The converter will have a balance port on the ally cover facing the mudguard, you may be able to fit your own threaded fitting in there as it only has to hold slight atmospheric pressure. The snorkel end should be easy if you purchase a suitable fitting or make one by drilling out a large bolt and nut and installing it from inside of the duct near a join. Any gas conversion place should have suitable fittings as this is normal practice for any vehicle with a cold air intake. Example Garden hose fittings might work too if you're rough enough.

Reversing the snorkel head won't properly fix the problem, cross winds will still affect your gas flow.

yep balance pipe to your air box from your converter should fix your problem mate lpg is fairly sensitive to pressure changes

Me again, thanks for the help, so as I have a canister type cleaner would putting a elbow in the lid and fitting the balance pipe to that work?
Also bee-utey for my reference can you tell from the pic what type is my gas system?. Thanks again Gary
