    300 TDI overheating up hills

Took the girl for a drive today. all fine till i started going up hill. (before this i just connected the dual battery system to another ground no where near any of the cooling system) i lost about litres of coolant out of the cap of the overflow tank. doesnt look like ive done a head.

left her for a couple hrs filled up the 3 litres drove back down the hill and home no issues...until i got to another hill.

    Stuffed/clogged Radiator???

i am running an alisport cooler and have been for about 8 months now with no issue. (air con was on max the whole time)

    thoughts?

Clean out the intercooler and radiator both inside and outside. Go from there.

If you have never replaced the cap i'd try that first, if its then releasing coolant at the correct pressure then either you've done a gasket or cracked the head.
Recently did my head and wasnt losing any coolant but it was pressurizing out the cap and all coolant hoses were rock solid, gasket didnt blow but head was cracked.

viscous coupling check and raditator flow check/flush out.

both at the same time as a starting point.

    then check the thermostat.

In fact do that at the same time and have a spare on prestested on hand just in case it is tha.t
