The O ring part confused me and had me looking for another seal to replace, i pulled mine off today after having a fairly large leak that sprays the rear of the car and found the bolts barely finger tight.
Pulled it apart and re did the whole thing again this time using 2 gaskets when mounting to block.
Thanks to all who replied. As stated by others, it's an easy job. Got replacement unit for $277 delivered from UK via ebay. Used 2 gaskets. No problems. Not got round to repairing old unit.Not sure I'll ever have the time.

Something that i havn't seen here and will ask is. Do i have to drain the oil in the engine to remove the pump?

No need to drain the oil. The gaskets are 'cheap as' from memory.
I've changed the pump 3x and done the rivet change twice. It's a fairly easy job.
1st time was at 160k kms (5 years ago). Did rivet drill-out/body gasket and it worked fine despite a score in the cylinder. Decided to put a new oem pump in anyway and it lasted 140k kms. Recently pulled it due to a moderate leak and did the rivet/gasket change again. Been fine since.
When I pulled my leaking pump apart, I found one of the little valves had popped out of it's socket and it's spring had been crushed into a blob of tangled wire. I gave up with the idea of fixing it at that point and ordered another from Roverlord. Top service there IMHO.
I had thought that a replacement welch plug would solve the problem and had been able to source a pair from repco stock. They're still sitting on the bench.

Do Holden mechanical fuel pump one way valves (179/186 glass bowl type) fit into the positions in the vac pump? Got some memory that it is a fix...
