'97 300tdi Manual To Auto Conversion

Hey Guys, long time lurker, first time poster

Recently picked up a pretty fair 300tdi Disco for almost nothing, has a broken half shaft in the 5 speed box though

I've weighed up the cost seeing whats around at the moment and the cheaper option seems to convert it to auto, just wondering though will the drive shafts be the same or are they different lengths? I also realize I will have to add a tranny cooler, no worries there but my main worry is with the drive shafts.

Anyone had any experience in undertaking this conversion or heard about it being done?

Any help or advice at all will be much appreciated.

    Cheers

if someone's wrecking one you should be able to pick up all the bits you need (auto box, bellhousing, flywheel, oil cooler & pipes, etc etc etc) in one place. Check wrecking notices in the marketplace here on the forum.

I don't know if the auto & manual gearbox mounts are the same, but someone on here will.

    Cheers,
    Alex

I'm actually going the other way!

I've already sold my ZF though...

PM me and we could do a swap of pedal boxes and shifter etc..

Mate. I did one awhile back quite simple if you can swing a spanner. Check out my posts, not sure whats it under. Note the orientation of fly wheel ring gear because if its around the wrong way motor wont start. Feel free to pm me with any questions. Baz
