    PROBLEM WITH IGNITION MODULE

    Problem is they don't last long. I'm still running the Lucas type. The previous one lasted 3 months then all hell brakes loose back firing through intake and exhaust when your trying to start it as if the timing is way out, replace the module and everything gets back to normal. It's a '95 3.9 V8, looks like time to change over to the bosch module, do I have to replace the coil with the bosch module?????
    Can anybody help with this problem, i'm worried that if I change over to the bosch module the problem will follow.

    The Bosch module will happily run the OEM ignition coil off the '95 system. The Bosch module can be mounted to the same heat sink the Lucas module sits on, you will need a couple of 3mm screws and nuts to hold it on. I did one a couple of days ago on a '94 RRC 3.9, it runs perfectly.

    BOSCH IGNITION MODULE - CHANGE TO BOSCH-BIM 024

    Thanks for info BEE UTEY would it be a good idea to replace the coil with a new one while doing the module switch. What would you recommend ?

    As virtually all new coils come from China I'd always recommend fitting a good used OEM style coil. If you've got your heart set on a Chinese coil, Bosch sell a MEC723 that is compatible. If you refer to the thread linked a whole bunch of compatible coils has been listed.

    G'day Shep,

    Beeutey, on the money as usual. I changed out both for Bosch units and have had no issues since doing so. Kinda ****ed at myself for not doing so before changing out plugs and leads, dizzy etc. i noticed a difference in available power and better fuel economy also!
