Someone should be able to post a link to a thread on here, I did see something about that provent but don't know where.

I have a kit to try some rainy day and was going to have a go at balancing. Using a; vacuum cleaner, a oil bottle, oscilloscope, Tipex, photo diode and a bottle of Valium.

Did your engine have really high crankcase pressure Dougal?

I have no issues like you've had thank God. That sounds expensive and scary.
Mine is comparison are miniscule. Thanks for your help though.

It does now, the rings are broken on at least one cylinder from oil ingestion.

4BD1T's are amazingly tough engines. I'm sure it would have folded rods and cracked heads on anything else.

I went for a run today. 100-110kph for an hour down the h/way and back.

The motor goes really well. No loss of power. No major oil leaks everywhere. I've seen engines with major crankcase pressure, they leak oil everywhere. Mine is dry.
So, why do I have oil in the top Intercooler hose again?? (Possibly a leaking turbo right?)

But why do I have oil in the vacuum hose going to the Provent??? A leaking turbo won't cause that.

It can only mean that the Provent is passing oil!! There is no other explanation that I can think of. AND it's passing enough to get your attention. Well, my attention.

So, Dougall has a real point about the Provent passing oil into the vacuum hose and my engine is not a "Puffing Billy". I reckon there is an issue with them.
