Could be fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator,Was one of my many symptoms once now a its sweet!!
That's pretty much the closing theme .
I had a problem, while stopping the Rev were going up and down , and then the vehicle shut off. While driving there was no problem.
Details in my previous threads over the past two years .
Throughout this period I replaced all engine electrical parts, 90% were replaced with a new one and the rest switched.
moving to the mechanical part. compression and all that, all fine.
What I found at the end:
There is the engine breather, oily gas transfer back into the intake manifold.
an larger amount of oily gas choke the engine, that's all.
When I disconnect the breather upon his return to the intake manifold - T , the engine works like a clock.
Thing to do, probably Rings , so until I do so, I cut the breather hose and pulled it up behind the vehicle.
Don't love the smell of gas. at the end of the pipe I put the bottle with a sponge and holes in the bottle to dilute the dispersion .
Piping of the intake manifold make vacuum, so I put a filter on it , not filter , more like sponge, but whatever.
Now moving to the learning prior, for ordering parts from the UK / U.S. .
Consideration of doing Rings has been decided to replace camshaft , lifters and timing chain.
Same consideration , I decided on modified camshaft. dilemma is what camshaft ? KENT SPORTS TORQUE H180/ Crower Comp-U Pro Cam 50229/????
I realized that in addition I need a double row Timing chain or Adjustable timing chain. I don't understand what his role adjustment , and that I am debating whether or not to buy one or maintain with standard timing chain?
And anyway, why not doing only the Rings and gaskets and it all will come out a lot cheaper !
Well, I'll stop here and let you express opinions, experience and knowledge.
Sorry for my English, hope you have understood.
Could be fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator,Was one of my many symptoms once now a its sweet!!
the fuel pump has been replaced by new one, no problem.
the fuel pressure regulator was checked and been found in good condition.
for now the engine work well, with the engine breather disconnected from the plenum chamber and the throttle inlet.
even though i have to say that today at one Traffic lights the engine turned off, just once, but there was no sign of rev swinging before.
I have to say as an aside, with a name of Past(o)r and talking about an unstable Rev(erend?) I though it was a religious discussion about a priest with a drinking problem.
Thought the same thing - Pastr/Rev.
Leaking injector pump was causing my disco to rev up and down, sudden loss of power then power returns, and sometimes engine would turn off without warning.
Are you talking about a 300tdi or a petrol V8??
Confused!!!
How much fume is coming from the breather at idle??? Surely can't be enough to choke the engine and stop it??
To me it sounds like the answer to your problem is there somewhere???
Is the air filter blocked?? Why does the motore go better when you remove the Crankcase breather?? Because it starts getting more air!
maybe?? It's just a guess
This is 3.9v8 and not tdi
When I pull the breather out the engine stops to rev up&down at stoplights.
I have the ECUMATE and didn't find with it any problem.
Now I see that the rev are O.K. But from time to time, at stops the engine shot off.
So part of the problem has been found but not all.
I can't amount the smoke but if the problem stopped (part of it) so it's probably the direction.
