    Water pump

    G'day guys n gals do I need a gasket for my v8 disco 1 water pump got second hand pump but some places are telling me just use instant gasket will this be fine need car for work on Monday , many thanks to those that reply .

    yeah, that'll work for you I prefer the proper gasket and hylomar but most of the formagaskets if used on a properly prepared, cleaned and dried service will work for you.

    make sure you tell the mechanic what youve done when you want him to replace it and dont forget to loctite and antisieze the bolts.

    Last time I did mine I used the copper coloured silicone. Haven't had a leak in over 2 years.

    Personally, I'd buy some gasket paper from Supercheap or wherever and simply make one using a small ball plane hammer and scissors.

    The gasket goo will work more than likely but, me personally, I'd make a gasket and use some goo on one side only.
