Disco 94 and Disco 97 differences

    Hi All

I have found some nasty roof channel rust in my disco and have been offered another disco that has done a head gasket. I'm thinking this disco is in better condition and is also an ES model Vs. my pov pack rust mobile. Question is, are most parts interchangable between a 94 ES and a 97 pov pack. There are some interior and equipment level differences obviously. My plan is to do an engine swap to the older model, they are both 3.9LTR V8 models. Are there any major diferences between these years I should also be aware of?

I take it the 94 is the first of the update models and not the last of of the pre-update ones ?

I believe it is, it has the 3.9ltr v8 not the 3.5ltr. I can't recall the exact month though. What other things should I look for to know its an update? Probably sounds like a stupid question but I'm only new to disco fever. If the question was about Ford Falcons and the differences in models I'd be able to quote alot of them from a while back to now.

Check the VIN, I think when they changed around 94/95, they went to a VIN starting with MA.

Where is the radio in the dash ? Down low in console makes it pre-update. Up at steering column level is an up-date model.

Ok radio position seems like an easy way to tell. I'll have to check it out. The owner of the old model keeps changing his mind on whether to sell or not. But I'll probably be checking other options out as well.

Dunno how financial you are (dont worry I'm not) but if your in the market for a Disco I've noticed the V8s are probably the cheapest Land Rover on the market , including series vehicles. Check any of the websites & you'll be spoiled for choice. Note the early Discos have a black plastic grille square headlights no lights in the rear bumper & no glove box. Just to name the easiest to spot differences.
