Why? It serves to catch excess fuel vapour from the petrol tank. If you remove it you need disconnect the breather hose from the tank and poke it out somewhere down the back or you get petrol fumes under the bonnet.

Fair enough. It hasn't been changed since new and I figured it was clogged up. I unplugged the electric purge on the canister and got instant more horsepower but haven't yet checked the economy or lack of. I love the comfort of my first Disco but the lack of power and ridiculous fuel consumption is annoying. New plugs, leads, air filter, fuel filter, checked timing. When I hook up a trailer it feels worse than my 2.8 diesel hilux. Very embarrassing. Smells rich out the exhaust. Any hints anyone please?????

Go to the very bottom left of any page on AULRO and type "3.9 economy" into the search box and read the multiple pages of results. Should keep you off the streets for a while.

Yep. Read all that and almost thinking of selling it. Apparently I am doing well getting 400 kms out of 75 litres of 95 octane if I don't use it like a V8. I have had bigger V8s in my time with heaps more torque that use no where near that. Love the thing but the economy makes me love it a lot less.

Check out MrBeamerdave on you tube covers the 3.9 and tuning, seems your truck needs a good tune. I run a 3.9 v8 fuel tank of 91 about 550ks. Cheers Dave
