    Brake Master Cylinder

Bought an unused m/cyl for my 95 Disco vin MA180000 non abs secondhand off ebay. Vendor said it would suit 1994-98.

When I received it, opened it up and has four outlets, two each side, so is for an earlier Disco or RRC.

Will it still fit if I blanked off the extra outlets or is that a bad idea ?

Just went back and had a look at the ad and someone has asked the question about how many outlets it has, but unfortunately this must have been after I made my bid so didn't see that.

Well, no one told me not to do it, so have gone ahead and fitted it with a couple of bleed screws in the rhs ports. Have trawled the net, looked at cutaway diagrams and found a couple of threads on pommy forums where others have done it and can't see why it wouldn't work.

Fitted a new brake booster and vacuum line as the old line had been bodgied up and can't have been working too well.

    Next question is.

I went to bleed the brakes but didn't want to stuff around with putting it up on stands and taking off the wheels but I found that the wheel gets in the road of the spanner on the bleed nipple and it was getting late so abandoned work for the day.

Has anyone been able to bleed theirs with the wheels on using an offset spanner ?

    Bleed brakes

Hi I was able to bleed my brakes with wheels on, used a 11mm ring spanner to crack them and then swapped to a 11mm open ender to open/close while the assistant pumped the brakes. When finished I used the ring spanner to tighten.

I did not remove any of the wheels, but I did put the car up on stands so the wheels were 4" off the ground.

I used all of my 2 of 500ml DOT 4 brake fluid, Is that a normal amount or should I have bled them more?

Also there was a lot of black muck in the bottom of the M/Cyl is that normal?

Im going to add a new post on my current problem - new Vacuum pump, new Servo, backed the adjuster nut on the servo 1.5 turns in. Brakes work well when you first start then after 10 to 15 minutes driving the brakes dont ease off after braking and the car needs more and more power to maintain speed. If I stop the motor and pump the brakes it all seems to reset for a few minutes and stops dragging. Can anyone suggest a fix please

    cheers
