My old man and I I have been trying to get the sping load back enough to install the circlip on his d1.

We had to replace the oil seal.

The mechanic my dad spoke to said the job is easy and can be donr in 30 minutes.

Well he's half righy the cir clip came out easy.

We just get it back in.

We have tried pivoting levers off the steering box but that's not getting it done.

We've tried cutting all thread down to size and using 2 nuts to expand out. Like a mini jack. That idea would work if the ends of the nuts had grip and didn't slip off.

We have spocken to 6 mechanics for help and they just use something to pivot off the steering box. ? Does anyone have a better method or tool?
