Yes they should, my 96 model did which is the same as yours.
95 disco just curious if my indicators are meant to switch off by themselves as currently mine dont and I would have thought by 95 that would be a standard feature on all vehicles.
Just hoping to find an answer before I go exploring and pulling it all apart to fix it.

There's a cancelling tab behind the steering wheel that has been known to break off before.

If it's the part I'm thinking of, it's a plastic ring that fits on the back of the steering wheel. It's not part of the switch itself.

Costs around $160, comes in a kit bundle, they get stuffed by putting your blinker on to opposite side with the wheel still turned the other way, as in a small roundabout, indicating left while wheel is still pointing to the right, regards Frank.
this is what u need apparently. wont break again
Indicator Cancel Ring STC2910 Discovery 1 '95 ON | eBay
I bought one of the aluminium cancel rings linked by Vanderz - very good. A perfect fit as a replacement for the plastic and a quick job to do. After years of only cancelling sometimes should have done it sooner.
What seems to happen is, yes the original plastic ring is brittle, but that also when a steering wheel is removed and refitted without having the tabs lined up right they will snap right off or shatter. Unless everything is lined up perfectly when reinstalling the wheel it will not seat properly - this became clear with the aluminium ring fitted, with the plastic one not so much as it will just break to allow it to seat, which is clearly what I and previous owners of my D1 had inadvertently done. Anyway, it works now and won't break again.
Careful u dont break a nose when pulling/ yanking the wheel off
