RRC drive shaft swap to D1

I've heard the old rangies had a decent rear drive shaft with two uni joints instead of the rubber coupling the diesel disco has . Is it a straight swap to the 5spd and lt 230 and I'm guessing you'll need to change the rear diff drive flange ? Is it much work and is it worth the drama I think my rubber disk is still ok but I've been told to go down the above path . Thoughts?

    Smile Flick the donut.

Just been looking at that same thing, the rear diff flange conversion that includes a new rear seal, the flange to adapt to a UJ and a new nut (I think) were on ebay for $55 from All 4x4 in Newcastle, you still need a driveshaft of the correct length, not sure if that would be the same length as a classic RR.

Have you looked in The Good Oil?
All you need to know should be in there.

If you have a lift of 2" plus then doing the conversion is worth it, if not then the couplings seem to last a long time.
Conversion parts can be bought off ebay minus the t/shaft for about $55 + postage.
