    '96 model Axle Splines

    Hello,

What Axle spline count do '96 model discoveries have?

    Cheers.

    Thanks Scouse,

Good for swapping into a '93 Rangie then. There's no other differences apart from the CV prop shaft on the rear diff is there?

Are you swapping the whole housing assy or just the centre + axles?

If centre + axles, you might strike a problem with the axle length. If so, you need to swap over the stub axles & hubs too.

You may not have a problem as some of the later 10 spline cars appear to accept the 24 spline axles without an issue.
I had to do the stub axle/hub swap when going to 24 spline on my '87 RR.

I've got the entire front and rear axle assemblies with everything still attached. The only outward difference I could see without having them side by side was that the rear diff uses a CV rather than and Uni-joint.

I have a 93 Rangie with abs and 97 Disco axles under my 85 rangie.
These two axles appear completely identical.
I converted the rear disco axle to universal joint. In hindsight I should have just taken the disco prop shaft as the 85 one has a worn spline.

    Thanks Dougal,

Yeah mine has ABS too and so do the Disco axles. I'll have to shorten the rear shaft 45mm to use it so I don't think I will.

Why will you need to shorten it?

I've converted it to run a 351w/4R70w and set it back 45mm from stock.
