Cruise control cable, discovery tdi 300

Mine frayed and broke. discovered that a bicycle brake cable will fit and it works fine as a substitute.

What year is your vehicle? I have a 96 Td1 ES, which is top of the range and it does not have cruise, which surprised me.

Was told that they only put cruise in the V8's.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Lou. Is yours a V8 or Tdi and factory or aftermarket?

Most Jap spec. TDI Models came with Cruise Control Standard -to my experience

There is not a "standard" or "factory" cruise control for the Tdi's. Not even part numbers for it. There are plenty of aftermarket solutions, but I haven't seen on yet that I like completely.

This confirms what I was told years ago.

    Question

    Guys....

I've just purchased a '97 model Disco TDi and it has aftermarket Cruise BUT, I've noticed that it has the Factory Cruise Control buttons on the side of the steering wheel. The Owner's manual also indicates that the vehicle can come with Cruise Control. The buttons on the side of the steering wheel don't seem to function, but I haven't confirmed that yet.....

I purchased a brand new D1 SE V8 in 97 and was told then that only the V8 had cruse control.

I now have a second hand SE7 TDi 99 and it doesn't have cruse control.
