    2 and 4 door differences???

Well I be saving up and looking around and I have come across a 1997 two door tdi manual. First thing first being a noob i was unaware the two door ran that late, so my questions are.

. Are there much difference in parts between the 2 and 4 door for interchangeability
. Someone once told me that the two door are exactly the same as the 4 minus the back doors is that true
. And changing the manual to an auto is it a hard task or dose it bolt in nicly

My main concern is if I buy it and if parts are different and harder to come by so your assistance will be much appreciated

    Thanks Rowlando

I would be surprised if it actually is a 97 model, check out the build/vin plate.
Mechanically they are identical so parts are no problem, converting to auto although not that difficult using factory parts its still a big job.
I would look at buying an auto if thats what you want.

2 door variants of a model usually have bigger doors. Falcon coupe as an example. Is this the case with Discos ??

No difference in front door sizes. The only time you might struggle for parts is if something is needed for the 2nd row windows. I repaired my latches as I couldn't find new ones. I've removed my 2nd row seats, but if you intend carrying rear seat passengers often then get a 4 door. Access to back is a pain in a 2 door - especially with a suspension lift!
It's better to regret the things you've done than those you haven't!

    Identical mechanically, including wheelbase.

Ah ok cool well I would not have to worry about seating people in the back as I would deck out the back with draw system. The extra space sounds appealing and I don't really transport anyone but myself and maybe one other ever now and then so sound like a good option, thanks for all you info guys
