Brake pedal and switches
Hello all
The stop light switch on Wodger carked it so pulled the dead one out and found it to be an after market job. Purchased the proper replacement unit and went to put it back where I removed the faulty unit from and found it went no where near the brake pedal. Much head scratching later and off I went to purchase another after market jobbie, anyway I finally dropped the cover over the fuse box to try and get the ruddy thing in and lo and behold I found out why the cruise control wont work....the vacuum switch was tucked up under the dashboard. So now I'm faced with the problem of more contortions to get the right switches in the right places. I'm assuming the vacuum switch goes in the round hole, it's an auto btw and the stop light switch gets fitted in the square hole. A really long winded way of asking is there supposed to be a plastic housing or something that goes in the square hole the switch fits into? and I thought Toyota Surfs were designed by very disturbed people. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers

Might be worth checking the manual about the brake light switch. I know in a 96 Disco that the switch is adjustable - you can pull the stalk out so that the length is suitable to your pedal height. Have a look in the manual...

The brake light switch is adjustable but not like the one you describe and you need the original nut and spacer which I'm in the process of acquiring, nut no longer stocked by Land Rover. What kicked this all off is the after market switch died and is (not for much longer) installed where the vacuum switch for the cruise control is supposed to be. Once I get the nut etc and put everything back where it's supposed to go hopefully the cruise control will work then Can start on the other projects I've got lined up

After a lot of head scratching and getting a look at another one found the problem is with the pedal itself not coming back far enough and I can't see anything that interferes with it as well as no obvious signs of damage anywhere. My question is does anyone know if there is an adjuster on the pushrod from the brake booster to lengthen it? I'd rather find out before I go contorting myself and getting the clevis pin out only to find there is none. If there isn't only solution will be to drill a hole and epoxy a screw in too take up the slack. Thanks in advance for any info.

Think I've solved the problem, brake servo fitted is a Lucas ANR2416 and LR part numbers are NTC4294 or STC1286. I think the latter ones might have a longer pushrod either that or the first one doesn't need the spacer fitted. Anyone had anything to do with any of these beasties?
