    Engine swap

    Hey guys,

A very broad question that may get some laughs...

In short.. next week I plan to park my '91 Disco 3.5 next to my new donor vehicle, a '92 4.6 Disco and swap the motors....

I've removed motors out of cars before but never a Landy.

Any tips to avoid any mistakes? (The 4.6 is an imported short motor built by Graeme Cooper's about 10 years back)

    Cheers,

    Mike

Auto ?? .... The Auto box .... Make sure that the torque converter is properly inserted and engaged into the auto box when fitting.

Don't force the box to fit to the motor. Cut the heads off a couple of long bolts / insert to the back of the block and use them as aligning pins to mate the bell housing of the Auto to the motor.

A search of member > Ashtrans < will bring up some old threads, in which he gives some measured torque converter depths.

    Cheers
    Mike

Undo and remove first the exhaust manifolds and then the engine mounts, then you can drop the motors a bit to access the bolts at the top of the bell housing.
