Because folk like to over complicate things if you are happy with how it stops with the system is has go that way. If it had a single line system I would say definitely fit the vented gear as its so easy to do with that system.
ok so Theoretically, i can just buy some new Solid discs and dual brake line calipers and remove the ventilated ones and calipers and replace them, if it is that simple why are there not more threads that say that instead of all the swapping of master cylinders, splitting calipers and reinventing the wheel (pun intended) posts

yes i am happy with how it stops, i'm not about changing to vented brakes, my main thing was the 24 spline axles and diff's, as i have a set of lockers but cannot use them on the current 10 spline setup, if worse comes to worse i guess i could just swap over the internals but that defeats the purpose of taking my time completely rebuilding on the bench, which is what t i wanted to do in the first place. then just do a complete swap.
what i will do is find a set of dual line calipers and test fit them with solid discs first and take it from there.
I think it will all fall in to place
You know that splitting the calipers is all of four bolts each and around 20 minutes per side? But hey, solid discs are fine, venteds are better at cooling but worse for catching gravel. Swings and roundabouts.![]()
i would have no problem splitting the calipers if i could find somewhere to buy the kit from, i have searched everywhere, cant even find any reference to it online
OK called TRS, was advised Solid discs will not fit later model only ventilated, trying to make them fit would be a nightmare, told the gentleman on the phone why i wanted to do this conversion to Fit Diff locks to a 24 spline and he almost jumped through the phone trying to tell me never fit Lockers to front axle, don't know why really as many have done this in the past with no issues, that aside though its not to bad a price for the spacers alone.
here is the prices
Spacer kit to do whole care I.E 4 Calipers - $148.00
Discs - $65 ea
Pads $75 set
Pin Kit - $19
Total - $ 727 to do whole care
Although i would research the pads and discs from elsewhere to see if a better Price was available
Did they go in to any detail why they don't fit? Seems odd seeing how easy it is to convert from solid to vented using defender parts but both single line. Take no notice of not using lockers been useing my front arb for years no problems just use a little sense
yes i listened to his advice on the front locker and then dismissed it.. lol
no he didn't go into it seemed to switch topic back to spacers real quick, possibly to make a sale, anyhow i will go with the spacers as its not as exy as i thought it was going to be and in reality ventilated discs are better for heat distribution
