    D1 bull bar fit

This may be a stupid question but I need to know before purchase. Will a ARB bullbar from a tdi200 93 D1 bolt straight on to a tdi300 97 D1? The reason I'm asking is ARB have dates next to the bull bar which state 91-94.

    Thanks in advance.

It will fit, the reason for the dates is probably due to airbag compliance. If your 97 does not have airbags it should be OK. Even Range Rover Classic bullbars will fit D1's, but they do not have the returns under the indicators - but the chassis fitment is the same.

Thanks - my 300tdi has airbags... Are there insurance issues here and / or is there a chance the airbags won't deploy on impact?

It's better to regret the things you've done than those you haven't!

There is an argument that a bull bar may benefit older style airbag systems.

No bull bar. Old system. Detector on each chassis rail. Hit a tree on either rail then bags will go off. Hit a tree between rails, possibility bags will not activate. Bull bar will stiffen up centre and transmit force to rails, setting off bags.

More modern airbag systems may have detectors on rails and in centre.

Talk to your insurer, suggesting system is too old to guarantee working and if you can put the bar on that you want.
