With Thermogard, you don't necessarily need to drill and tap. A 1/4" NPT tap will probably cost more than the replacement plate that is an option with the kit, and its already done for you. Just install and wire it up, its a nice kit.
PS. Removing the centre muffler has got mixed reviews on a Disco1, can't speak for other vehicles. A straight through can does the same thing but cuts the resonance.
Did u remove that plate to drill the hole or did u leave the plate intact and drill? If u left the plate on, how do u drill w/o getting metal bits from falling inside and into the turbo?Quote:

Excuse me for my lack of knowledge here, but what temps would you expect to see 'Pre" Turbo as to what Temps you would see "Post" Turbo ??
300 degree in temp difference seems quite a big drop considering the closeness of probes (Pre & Post) and heat transfer, etc

I've undone the bolts on around 10 of these, not once had a bolt snap off. It's best to undo the bolts on a warm (not red hot) manifold IMHO as the cast iron expands slightly more than the steel bolts. Once loosened they'll come undone easily when you're ready to do the job, preferably on a cold engine. You'll need either a new gasket or some muffler putty on the old gasket as they get all crumbly with age.Quote:
