    Removing Diff Centre

Im slowly pulling apart this Diff Housing ftom a 96; D1 to reco it and out in my 93, the guy I got from gave me the receipts which shows ge redid the wheel bearings and uni joints about 500km ago before he removed it I dont really want to pull it all down again but I do want to check tge diff centre, can I just split it here at tge attached picture and remove each end in one bit then the drive shafts the get the Centre out??

Also does counting theses splines at the end indicate its a 24 spline internal as wrll as the ends, its out of a 96 so it should be but wiuld like to know for sure

Yes, if you undo those bolts the whole swivel assembly and axle will come out.

A Bigjon said. Yes. There are other ways to pull the axles, but that's the most direct route.

The answer to your second question is the same. Yes.

Dont forget to rope the thing up ,especially if you dont disconnect the brake lines first...

I rope off around the shock tower

I thought the answer to your second question is no, counting the outer does not give the inner spline count, atlleast not in the case of my 93 d1

Did you get one of the change-over models with the later metric hubs but still 10 spline diffs?

It may very well be, my vin is KA and the change is at the end of JA i think.
Also my half shafts have the bulge (for the oil seal?) yet bearings are oil lubed

that picture is of a 1996 model disco Axle, im changing out my 1993 axles to 24 spline

interesting though is my Vin KA04 id the later 10 spline however at some stage there has been an axle change and what is in there now is from a JA04 Vin, i found this out after ordering the wheel bearing kit for my vin and when i got it apart i found i was 2 seal short.
