    16-16.5mm rear springs?

Has anyone here measured the wire diameter of their rear springs?

One of my classics has disco springs fitted and the rears seem to be heavier than expected. I'm measuring 16.2-16.5mm wire when online sources say about 1mm smaller wire.

Just measured the standard rear springs in my '93 Disco...16.4mm. They measured 16" free length when I had them out (from memory). I believe these are 210lb springs, could be wrong tho.

    Thanks for confirming.
These do look like stock springs and are progressively wound, just the online measurements were throwing in some doubt.

210lb/in would be okay. I just need to level the vehicle.

Mine are not progressive. I believe the late disco's got progressive springs.

So on this chart: PART where do you think yours fit?

My best guess is the vehicle mine came from had this vin: SALLJRMM3TA****** Registered as a 1996. Which would be ANR3477 according to paddocks. Still 207 lb/in on that chart.

I'm a bit suspect of other numbers on that page, specifically those with the "^" beside them. The two above "NRC8044 and NRC8055" he is listing as 15.2mm wire and has "recalculated" the rates to lower values based on the 15.2mm measurement.

I measured 16.7 mm on my NTC5527. Does the number of coils match?

As to the other topic, everyone should have Dougal on their ignore list.

Roughly in the car, got 9 1/4 coils. Sitting at 280mm compressed length with just the 40L Engel in the back.

I've finally been able to clean these up enough to find some paint stripes. They look green/orange but the closest on the list is green/brown.

That would make them ANR3477 with 207 lb/in rate and a length of ~390-410mm depending on source (15.4-16 inch).
Fronts appear to be "572315" which are 133 lb/in and listed as 15.4 inch.

This russian site has all the microcat data: Landrover Parts Catalog

It shows the late diesel classics were running:
Front NTC8477 which is allegedly 180 lb/in and 15.7" (rate seems high, NTC8476 which is paired in LHD is listed as 150lb/in)
    Rear NRC2119 (150 lb/in 16.1 inch) then ANR3520 which is allegedly 150 lb/in and 16.5" tall.

It looks like I'm going to have to weigh this thing once it's road legal and do some more maths to make sure it'll sit level. I won't be ordering any springs until then.
I plan to use 150 lb/in fronts and around 170-180 lb/in rears. It's the actual weights I'll need to get the spring length right and the disco springs may not be any use.

My 4BD1T powered rangie runs what I beleive are Police Spec NRC4304 all round. 170lb/in and 430mm length. It sits level due to the 500psi in the front koni shocks.
