I'll have to install my second battery in the cargo area. The ABS unit is in the engine bay space I'd like to fit it.

Took advantage of a relatively cool morning to organise the cargo area of the Disco.

Cut a section of neoprene to protect the carpet from mud & crud, and to stop the Rhino case from sliding about.

Job done. second battery will be mounted on right side of box where the battery box outer carton is in the third pic. I was going to remove the sixth and seventh jump seats, but the right hand frame will hold the second battery box securely with a simple cam buckle 25mm strap.

Been giving the roof storage options on the Disco a bit of thought.
I already had this roof basket, and decided to utilise the Land Rover rack that was fitted to the Disco when new. The basket is a Rhino item is very sturdy. I can now fit the Rhino crossbars[when they arrive]much further apart to suit the 2m x 3m awning I have to fit on it.
Been a busy week.
Wed: Replaced the sagging hood lining that was held up by upholstery pins (po)
with one from the wreck. Put 8 sheets of dynamat type product on roof before fitting the liner.
Thu: Pulled out all the carpet and underlay to find little patches of rust. Treated with rust buster.
Fri: Painted the floor with two coats of POR 15 and then sprayed some body deadener over the entire floor.
Then a mate rang up and reminded me that this weekend was our Wombat weekend.
So started reinstalling the interior at 6pm...All done by 9.15pm, :2up: up at 4.45am to get to wombat with the rest of the group. [bigwhistle]
Had a fun day Sat, poured rain all night
Lots more bog holes today :D
and the end result is a very dirty Disco that has to be cleaned ready for a trip to Bendigo on Tuesday :(
All in all a great weekend was had and a nice relax after Fridays effort. :D
Idle issues back again so parked in shed and bought a landcruiser! Disco for sale??
I installed a second battery where the air intake was located (I removed this and installed a eBay snorkel a few months back). I had to cut into the outlet of the air box slightly to accommodate the battery supports. I also installed a engine defender I purchased on eBay for $75 complete with wiring and alarm. I have one thermo couple bolted to the thermostat and the other inserted into a hose running out of the coolant res. I need to cable tie down the wire from the thermo stat housing so it is out of the way of the oil cap but ran out of time. I removed the accessories section plastic bit from inside the disco and fixed the ed monitor into it. Nice fit. Lastly, I removed my UHF from down low near my left leg and fixed it up high out of the way between the sun visors. It was fixed to some hard plastic where sunroof controls are usually located. I'm running my fridge, air compressor, engine saver, uhf and a 600W pure sine inverter off the aux battery. Fun weekend!
Great work on the second battery install. My ABS unit is where you put your second battery. Bugger. My UHF is a 'plug and play' GME but I'll mount it where you did. Out of harms way up there! Is the engine defender a 'must have' in your opinion? I drive trucks for a living and know what to look for-is the fitted temp gauge not accurate enough? This is my first LR diesel
I've been having fun.
Removed the grille a little while ago to route some wires for a dual battery system.
When I got the grille off, I noticed there was only one a/c condenser fan. The other one had been removed and the wire cut. There has obviously been some front end damage at some time as you could see the marks on the condenser from the fan blades hitting it.
Got a secondhand fan and went to install it today. Fitted it and wired it up, fired up the car and a/c and got nothing from the fan. Checked my wiring, checked for power from the fuse, all okay.
Then I noticed something. I had previously seen 3 wires poking out from near the radiator and was wondering what they had been for. I then realised they were the same colour code as the ones for the fans. Connected power to them and the new fan roared into life but the other one didn't.
For some reason not only has someone removed one fan but they have also cut the wiring to them. I ran out of time but I am going to have to go through the loom from the fuse box and try and find the old wiring and sort out what's happened.
I can understand removing a non working fan but to remove the wiring doesn't make much sense.
A/C works great and the car doesn't overheat, but there does seem to be a fair bit of engine bay heat at times.
More fun.
