Swapped the 2 1/4" exhaust system from a newly acquired parts car onto my driver D1 V8 to replace the leaky standard system that was on it. It actually has a decent exhaust note now :D
Also swapped the good OME rear shocks from the same parts car onto mine. Seems the one that were on it didn't take to kindly to some of the rougher parts of the Oodnadatta track/Lake Eyre trip a few weeks ago.
Cleaned about 100kg of caked red mud off with the Gerny- artifact of a wet few days on the Nullabor on a recent trip through that part of the world.
Discovered that the disco had some very loose exhaust manifold studs, and that one was missing. So tightened and replaced them. Also replaced/very poorly fitted a piece of plastic in place of my now newly broken rear left moon light window. Looks horrendous...
Degreased the motor and gearbox to help me find the leak that has appeared after the new clutch was put in.
Made up an adapter base for a new saas seat to fit the disco. Have found a few problems with my design and will fix tomorrow.
I bought a Volvo last week to use as a daily drive, so the disco is parked up, waiting on some parts to come from the UK, a general refresh, and a start working on a touring setup. :)
Degreased the engine as I have replaced the rocker cover gaskets. Engine looks like... A twenty year old clean engine now!
Removed my sump to replace gasket not only did I find a couple loose bolts, no gasket just sealant but also found 3or 4cm of built up sludge in the sump:mad:
I only just bought this car so looks like I got some work ahead of me fixing all the previous owners crap
Wow, that is disgusting!! Have you had a look under the rocker cover gaskets? My top end was in surprisingly good condition. Very fine layer of just browning, but it looked great. I've got a new sump gasket coming so another oil change to follow too. Just wondering if ill find any surprises.
oil and filter change and fitted my snorkel... also got bogged and had to be pulled out by a tractor
