Thread: New member from CANBERRA

I have been thinking of taking over a 1995 discovery. It has a kaput transmission but apart from that seems to have a good engine. It’s a TDi. It has 380klms. I would have to get the handbrake fixed and the windscreen leak. [my current car is a Peugeot 2005 206cc] I have driven the disco and it’s a bit like a truck to drive, but that’s ok … I always wanted to be a truck driver!
I did have my heart set on getting a defender … just for its arthouse cult value … I just love them, but can’t afford $50,000. SO, when this disco arrived in my street, I thought maybe my prayers had been answered, in a roundabout way!
I would just like to know if I spend the money on the transmission etc, I would get good value from the lovely old car for another 500000klms?
