Thread: WHY WON'T MY DOOR LOCK? BEEP BEEP

I would like to know how this turns out. I have a similar issue, where I push the drivers lock down, shut the door, and they all pop right back up.

I finally started climbing in through the rear passenger door, locking all the doors, then closing that door. seems to stay locked then.

I have not had any time to fool with it, but I have a hunch it has something to do with a faulty dome light switch on the driver door.

Rave says it gives two short burst if you unlock it but dont open the drivers door, then re-lock it too let you know its been unlocked mine does it.Have a look inside the door maybe something has come apart or broke?

That makes sense, the light switch is used as a reference if the door is closed or not .

OK, I'll check that out next. I found the same sympton in reverse too, I push the button to unlock and all do, bar the drivers door. I vaguely recall the same "BEEP BEEP" warning leaving the bonnet up and trying to lock the doors, I wonder if anyone could try this for me for arguements sake. Next I'm thinking the actuator itself but assume I wouldn't be getting the warning in that case?

I've just replaced my drivers door latch on my Disco 300TDi Mar95 as it would only open if the lock was pulled up from the inside as you pull the handle, or the the key turned to full unlock from the outside.

Its a bit of a job replacing the latch, need to remove the window and all the inside trim.

I broke a little metal clip that keeps the lock button arm (2.5mm wire) connected to the latch. sort of like a little washer with a clip hook on it. Does anyone know what they are called, cant buy one if you dont know its name.

Anyway the locking is now dodgy, as without clip its kinda loose. The lock arm actually came undone and I could not open the door from inside or out, coat hanger fixed that .

Also I had to re-adjust the actuator arm to engage, disengage the lock, Until I adjusted it 5mm away from latch I had the symptoms you guys are talking about. Hope this helps.
