(diff centre ratio change) disco 1 1999 24 spline

I have been trying to find anyone who might know what diff centre's I can fit in my discovery 1 1999 v8 3.9 with 24 spline axles, with 33'' tyres. I had standard centre's 3.54:1 ratio in front and back and I'm wanting to change the diff centre ratio to 4.5:1.... to gear it down a bit. I'm also looking to fix highway speed as I can only sit at about 90km so it doesn't get a chance to go into OD (uses heaps of fuel because of it) I'm swapping the centre's because they have broken one after another over the last couple years up to 3 now it has now been off the road for about 15 months but I've kept it registered and wanting some help because I can't find anything on discovery interchangeable diff centre's

4.5 is too low, 4.11 is a little too low but closest to correct without going to a custom made gear set.
You are probably aware that nothing else will fit without custom axles and housing mods.

Haven't checked the exact ratio I will need. do you know if there are any centre's that will fit into it that are 4.11 or what they come out of. I have two blown diff centre's sun gears gone and bearings destroyed so I'm looking for complete centre if possible to suit 24 spline

Like i said there is nothing else with different ratio's that will bolt straight in, you have 4 options -

    1) gear set change with a locker centre (ARB,Ashcroft, true trac etc)
    2) toyota diff centre conversion with custom axles and flanges
    3) 80 LC complete diff swap, gives you stronger hardware and 4.1 ratio's
    4) defender 1.4/1 transfer swap - wont help with breakages much

Put in some ARB diff centres, you won't break them, bonus you get front and rear lockers and your axles fit, Regards Frank.

I would use Ashcroft if I was going to go down this line.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
