I tried and failed. Determined it couldn't be removed without unbolting the cross member.

Yup d1 auto. It looks doable but just want to be sure if it comes down to it ile un do the mounts and jack it up off the cross member to get more room.

I can confirm it can be done without touching the cross member.

    Disco AT sump removal

To remove my AT sump. I undo the left mount (4 bolts) on the CDL then with a jack under the CDL lift it up enough to access the corner sump bolt on the AT sump.

To make life easier, having removed the LH mount, I "trimmed" it with the angle grinder to allow future access to the corner pan bolt without removing the mount.
With that done, for servicing I undo the two nuts holding the mounts to the chassis and then jack the transfer case up to get clearance to remove the pan.

    Cheers

Exactly how I ended up doing it.
