    Car Entertainment System

I am trying to fit a BAUHN car entertainment system to my 1998 Disco. I have had the car since new and this is the third sound system I've put in it.
My problem relates to the requirement to connect one of the system's leads to the park brake switch. If I don't do this the DVD player won't work for safety reasons. I have tried connecting to the wire leading to the earth switch at the handbrake but can't get a test light to work like that. I have also tried a connection to the pink/orange wire behind the instrument fascia, again, no test light illumination.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

PS I'm a youngster of 80 so not too technical please.

I assume it needs a +ve signal from the handbrake instead of the -ve that Land Rover uses?

One way around it is to use a relay to switch a +ve supply to the entertainment unit.

You could just forget about the hand brake and run the wire to a switch on the dash with +ve and just use that when you want to watch a dvd.

    my 2 cents

put it on the same wiring that your windscreen wipers are on, that would be quite entertaining.

but as people said above you could pretty much wire it onto anything. there is probably a spare +ve wire behind the facia, just wire it to that so as long as the car is on it will work.

PS i had a similar system on mine. it cracked the hell out of the front facia as it was very heavy and when it went off road put too much stress on the plastic. seeing as LR are wired so that the stereo wil only work when there is ignition, it means that you can really only watch with engine running which means unless you have it where you CANT see it, is a dangerous distraction.

to be honest i would get a blu tooth system, they are nice and light with no dvd player or screen and just use an ipad or laptop if you want to watch stuff.
