Question Where to buy a complete D1 Radiator Hose Kit from?

    Guys,

Checked under the bonnet of my d1 today and noticed a few coolant weeps coming from a few of the radiator hoses. I was able to tighten them up as they seemed a bit loose, but I reckon it's probably time to look at replacing all the hoses in the old girl.....
Where's the best place to purchase a complete radiator Hose kit from? Here in Aust or o/s in England and what sort of $$ would I be expecting to pay?
Never having purchased anything for the old from overseas, I was wondering if it would be cheaper to go that way while I'm currently not in a rush for it or would it be better to source locally?

I'm on the nthside of Brissie, and I know there's MR Auto, etc, just not sure on price from these guys.... There's a couple of guys on here that also sell this sort of stuff ?? Who are they ??

    cheers...

For something like that, I'd be supporting the local economy.
As Rangieman says, Mario will see you right. Best to call or email.

When I wanted a spare top hose for my Td5, I had a shop around OS non genuine and local non gen. I tried a stealer and got a genuine for not much more.

Now I know that you have a D1, but I thought I would relate my experience and to suggest when hunting to not, like I have in the past, not even consider genuine.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

    Question

What sort of Difference is there in quality between the Genuine & Non-Genuine? The reason I ask is that my cousin ended getting Genuine Hoses for his D1 and still had troubles, he found out that it was one of the new hoses that he got that was causing the issue. So, that got me wondering.....

I was looking on the Roverparts website and found the following prices:

FULL HOSE KIT - DISCOVERY 300TDI
    Price:
    $132.45 ex. 10% GST
    $145.69 inc. 10% GST -- I'm assuming this KIT is a Non-Genuine Kit?

    HK300DISC
    FULL HOSE KIT INCLUDES:
    ESR3296 BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE
    ESR2491 TOP RADIATOR HOSE
    ERR5099 THERMOSTAT BY-PASS HOSE
PCH117840 EJECTOR PUMP HOSES (BLEEDER HOSES)
    BTR9617 HEATER HOSE
    BTR9616 HEATER HOSE

    Individually:

    ESR3296
    HOSE - RADIATOR - BOTT - L/ROVER DISC 300 TDI
    Price:
    $75.00 ex. 10% GST
    $82.50 inc. 10% GST -- $165 (inc's GST) for Geniune

    ESR2491
    HOSE - RADIATOR - TOP - L/ROVER DISC 300 TDI
    Price:
    $15.00 ex. 10% GST
    $16.50 inc. 10% GST

    PCH117840
    HOSE & EJECTOR PUMP - COOLING SYS BLEED - L/ROVER DEF+DISC -- I haven't come across this one?
    Price:
    $50.00 ex. 10% GST
    $55.00 inc. 10% GST -- $147.40 (inc's GST) for Geniune

is the extra cost really worth it?

Personally I don't bother with genuine LR hoses when there are good aftermarket at a fraction of the price. There are quality differences between aftermarket hoses/kits though and my preference is Bearmach or Allmakes brand.

from my experience after market is cheaper but would strongly recommend getting a brass bleed screw for the top rad hose, that was the only way I stopped the wifes D2 squeezing coolant out, the supplier said undoing the bleed screw will make them constantly leak, unclip the rad overflow and lift it up to bleed the system
