Fitting crush tube in sill mounted sliders

Hi, I am fitting up some sliders to my Disco 1 but I have a question as to the crush tube and how to fit it in the sill. I have searched but couldn't find this particular answer in any previous posts. How do I get the crush tube inside the sill so I can bolt up the slider? The sill seems to be sealed at both ends. How have others gone about this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Cheers,
    Damon

Crush tubes are generally installed by drilling the hole away from the load bearing point to the OD of the crush tube. You then install the washer, bolt and tube from that side. The bolt tension clamps the part you're supporting and the crush tube to the sheet metal on that side. If you were adequately skilled you could mig weld the crush tube into the larger hole to retain it in position if you ever wanted to remove the bolt. Loose crush tubes tend to fall in to the box section and rattle around for ever.
