Indicators constantly on
Hi Folks,
the indicators are on constantly on in my Disco 1. We hit a bump or went through a puddle or something. Everything else works fine. Can anybody offer any assistance. Happy New Year.

It thinks you have had an accident! There is a switch under the bonnet that triggers when a certain G force is detected.
Switch ignition off. Switch on again.
We did most of the Birdsville track with our hazard lights on as we got very sick of stopping to reset the blinkers....

it is part of the alarm system, mine was caused by all sorts of things, a real pain in the @#&!!
mine also goes into total shut down on occasion and wont start
Now to the fix, turn ignition off unplug the security module up under the glove box behind the black trim. Its green on the left next to all the relays and held in with 2x 8mm nuts a PITA to get to, mine is no longer screwed in. unplug turn ignition on then off again replug and it should be good to go.
You might be lucky and be able to fix it by lock and unlock car or battery disconnect.

I appreciate your help.

What year/engine/version is your Discovery? The Inertia switch is a big fat rubber covered button switch, usually but not always found behind the washer bottle under the bonnet. It varies a bit depending on the model year. Some I believe are found behind the glove box under the dash. To reset it you just push down until it goes click.

Ok,
I think I fixed it. With the engine running (and lights flashing), disconnect the green plug from the security module. The engine will keep running and the lights will stop. Now turn the ignition off and try the start the vehicle, it wont start. Now plug in the green connect. Start your engine and Bobs your uncle!
This took all day and advice from my forum friends plus a beer and some cursing.
I could not find the inertia switch for the love of money but I did find the connector as discribed in the Haynes Manual in section 4B.7, behind the water bottle.
Cheers and Happy New Years

Good to hear you got it sorted, like mine it might be a good idea to keep the security module easy to access and don't worry about screwing it back in, a couple of cable ties to secure it and a pair of side cutters for quick removal
