    discovery 1 suspension

    hi all,

first post here so i thought i might introduce myself.

my names Tom and i own a 1996 discovery 1 auto v8 4.6 which is giving me hell haha.

I live in the backwards state of South Australia and am a Boilermaker/Welder.

I am having some issues with fuel economy and the car is loosing complete power in warm-hot weather. i am unsure of what this could be, but have had a few suggestions regarding fuel vaporization and fuel pump.

i am also only getting 350km to a tank.

    the modifications are

33 12.5 Achilles xmt mud terrains
    2 inch lift
    high mount winch
    stupid plastic bulbar
    airbags in rear
    4.6 v8 with 3.9 head 70000km full rebuild
snorkel and k&n enclosed pod filter
and thats all i can think of.

I know the tyres and extra weight will give it worse fuel economy but it is nearly 28l/100km

    cheers in advance.

Sorry the thread name is wrong. Wrote the wrong thing haha.

    G'day mate and welcome!

If your 4.6 has a MAF (which I assume it will) then it's possible the K&N filter could have donated some filter oil to your MAF. My suggestion would be to grab a can of MAF cleaner from your local auto parts store and give it a clean first! Best to start off with the cheap fixes before spending big coin on sensors, etc!

Got any pics of your disco?

    Cheers
    Keithy

I would replace the K&N with a Donaldson, if you have ABS your snorkel would be an Airflow, should not have too much problem,I have a 98 model 300TDI with a Safari snorkel and a Donaldson, and get good economy and slight boost in power, better on cold nights.

Thanks for the reply guys. I have heard they don't like the pod filters but I brought it on there.

I have a few pictures but only of me stuffing around at home.
How do I upload them from my phone or computer??
