Hi All, D1, V8 3.9 auto . Has a 2 inch spring lift and bilstein shocks. I'm getting a bit worried driving the d1 in the wet lately as it is constantly losing traction when cornering on wet off camber corners. The steering wheel lightens during the turning and any pedal is guaranteed to get the car a sideways. I need to clarify that I'm not driving like a hoon, this behavior happens at very low speeds and seems to only occur on off camber turns. Any ideas what might be causing this?. I'm thinking one of two things at the moment. 1.) caster correction required 2.) tie rod ends are stuffed. I don't know enough about suspension to back these guesses up. I should also mention the car sits slightly nose up. Cheers

Caster or toe in. First get your toe in checked, it needs to be between 0 and 2 degrees toe OUT.

Thanks Vern - I'll give that a look first. Reading your search for a reliable msa to lt230 thread with interest as well.

Hi frank - standard size Pirelli atr on standard land rover alloys , about 15000 k's on them 2 years old , I generally run 34 in the rear and around 30 psi in the front. No winch no bar.

    Cheers, Matt

I would run 34-36 in both F & R as there is really no benefit in a lower front pressure, unless you diff housing is bent there is no caster correction so i'd be looking at all the bushes especially the panhard rod and also bearing and swivel pre loads.

Reason I asked about age is that older tyres can become hard and brittle, I have a set of A/T that are about 12 years old on my SIII, fitted them to my son's Stage 1 and it was sliding on dry roads, tyres do have a use by date (stamped on sidewall), also check your steering damper is working both ways and check steering bolts are tight, Regards Frank.
