    Clear fluid on front diff

Hi all. I have a D1 300tdi and have noticed that theres clear fluid dripping from my front diff. It looks very similar to brake fluid and I cant see where it would be coming from. Anybody had this problem before or know where it mite be coming from. Thanks guys.

Its a drip coming from the bottom of the diff. The fact that its clear flyid is making me wonder where its coming from.

Is it water or oil based? Take out your diff fill point plug, stick your finger in there and see what's inside! No fluids in the car should be clear except for wiper washer if you are using just water. Are there any traces from top to bottom of the diff? It may be dripping on top of the diff and working it's way down!!!

Small puddles of water can appear where the vehicle is parked from the condensation from the A/C but I wouldn't expect that to be anywhere near the diff.

It's oil based almost identical to brake fluid. I used a gerni and cleaned it all this morning going to see if it appears again.

What's directly above the diff is the injection pump. Bet that's leaking diesel somewhere. Use a mirror and torch to look under it.

Clutch fluid can run down the pipe and drip onto the top of the diff.

    diesel

i second what bee utey says. my injectors were leaking from the spill rail and also the back of IP was leaking and all ended up on top of the diff where there is a cup sorta shape until is filled up and worked its way down the diff to the floor. best way to find out what it is is to smell it. brake fluid and diesel smell very different from each other. unless they are mixed together.

try follow it up all the way to the source. could be anything really unless you find where it comes from and how it looks/smells. LR leak a lot of everything.

    welcome to a dirty driveway.
