    Persistent coolant weep

As per photo, I keep having this coolant weep at the back of the 300tdi engine (heater hoses) that I cannot seem to stop. I have tightened the coolant hose (behind the bolt) but the coolant around the head bolt in front also concerns me.

    Ideas?

Surely you'd remove the hose, then unscrew the fitting out of the head and put some thread sealer on it.

As your photos show each screw in fitting has coolant seeping which would suggest it is not the hose but the fitting, as B'utey said, thread sealer on the screw threads.
    Cheers,

The inner layer of the hose may be split too, no matter how much you tighten it won't seal. This one hose gets all the head heat and hardens quickly compared to others. Might be the cause of the coolant around the head bolt too if its squirting out the side. If its the case, cut the hose down to where the clamp finishes, then reinstall until you can get a replacement.

Now that you mention that Spel1 - the front hose that feeds into the thermostat housing has a weep between the layers as well. I can see coolant weep between the layers, perhaps its faulty/****ty hoses...

Mario & Heather (Roverload Spares above) do a complete hose kit for the TDi. I recently got one from them and replaced the lot after one of my heater hoses started to weep. Pretty cheap insurance as all the other hoses are (potentially) the same age as the one giving you grief.

After looking at this closely, and inspecting other hoses, looks like it may be hose weep. The rear bolts are all wet, so cant be thread leak. Now the front hose shows signs of weeping, even coolant on the belt tensioner (bottom part of photo). You can see green dry coolant in the layers of the hose. So would I be right in saying its the hose that is failing?

Yes it definately looks like a hose leaking. Whats the metal like under the hose is it clean or full of crud. Sometimes the coolant can eat away crud and cause leaks, Classic example is when you put OAT in a system that previously had other type of coolant in it, you end up with leaks everywhere.
When replacing hoses always ensure the fitted area is cleaned first of all scale and crud.
    Regards,
    Mario

Mario - the coolant leak doesnt seem to come from between the hose and the housing, just weeping between the hose layers themselves. I will replace and while I am at it clean up surface area of course.
