    300Tdi Bosch VE pump servicing Adelaide

    Does anyone know a reliable and reasonably priced (!) diesel pump specialist in Adelaide?

    My D1's injector pump is leaking - a steady drip when cold then pretty much stops once it's warm. I replaced one of the O rings (the easy one on the outside) a while back and it seemed to come good for a while but now it is leaking somewhere else, under the cap where the injector lines go.

    I looked at some posts and videos of how to change the O ring behind the pump head without taking the pump off the car but I think that's beyond me, too many chances to break it completely! Also, there are other seals in there that are the same age that are probably almost stuffed anyhow. I am thinking to bite the bullet and get it fixed "properly".

    it's not that difficult, if they won't remove the pump themselves then you would have done most of the work to replace the seals anyway.
    If they do remove then make sure they understand the job of keeping the timing right and realignment of the pump when they refit.

    Ok job done.
    After a lot of shopping around and talking to diesel specialists I decided to go with a reconditioned changeover pump supplied and installed by British 4x4 at Windsor Gardens in Adelaide. The diesel places seemed a little vague about how much they would charge for remove/install and equally vague about how much they would charge for the rebuild, depending on how bad it was when they got it apart. Worst estimate from the diesel specialists was over 3K, but a c/over has a fixed price for the part and British 4x4 knew the job well enough to give a firm price on that too. So, while not cheap, it was well under the money the diesel folks wanted and now the old bus is a little less incontinent than she used to be. Happily, it still goes quite well for a 300Tdi too.

    List price for the pump was 1650 whole job came in around 1850 for just the pump although I had some other stuff seen to as well. One of the diesel places wanted up to 850 just for remove and reinstall as they said the job was tricky... One of those things better done by someone who knows the cars I think.

    You found one of the few guys in Adelaide that knows the old Landies, and actually enjoys working on them.

    I have used Brendan in the past, and my daughter just recently bought a D2 from him. I knew the car would be mechanically sound, as it was his own daily driver for about 18 months.
