Does someone know the weight of a stock disco? -Saggy rear end!

Does anyone know the weight of a stock discovery 1 over each axle?

Mine with all its kit and fully loaded weighs 1256kg over the front axle, 1437kg over the rear axle. For a grand total of 2693kg!

(Some of that isnt sprung weight, as I am using toyota axles, and have very heavy rubber)

The time has come to put heavier springs in my truck. My OME HD units are no longer up to the task of carrying my gear. I am using Terrafirma shocks and they are not keeping up either.

I think at this point, Custom weighted springs are best. Looking for 50mm height. Which is why Id like to know the stock weight, so as to compare.

Ive been looking at lovells springs. Im going to call King and see what they have for shocks.

    What do you fellas use?

I put a dobinson medium rate kit on mine.

The Springs are really firm, definitely good when loaded up, with kids, camping gear and camper trailer. Which is what I had intended the kit be used for. But it's pretty firm driving around town unloaded.

I'd definitely consider using a softer spring with airbags next time.

    Also spending more on shocks.

you are about 100kgs overloaded on the front axle.

try standard weight springs on the back with helper airbags.

Going to a softer spring/airbag isnt a good option for me because This truck will never be "unloaded". It is a purpose built vehicle, the only time it moves is with the current weight.

I have the ome hd springs as is, and they are too soft.

Back to my original question, does anyone know the weight of a stock disco over each axle?

Interesting that im overweight on the front by 100kg. Ill need to check my door sticker, but didnt seem like it was too far off.

Mine was a v8 truck and switched in the tdi. Added winch/bumper, second battery, thats about it. Doesnt seem too kitted up.

Sorry can't answer your question about the axle weights, other than a TDI runs about 2700kg stock. My D1 is almost never unloaded, always carrying tools, bags of cement or pulling a front heavy trailer. I have TJM heavy duty springs with Bilsteins - but the bounce was way too harsh with a load - since I put on the airbags the ride has been really good all round. You have discounted the option, but was the best option for me, and I only run them at about 10lbs most of the time. Nicest thing about them they are tuneable for even heavier, or lighter loads.

For reference, here is my door sticker. Interestingly, mine is rated marginally higher. Started life as a slushbox v8.

It's in the owner's handbook, General Data -> Vehicle Weights.
