Not 100% sure but I think they are to let the pressure out when you shut the doors.

The rear rubber mat that sits under the carpet in the rear cargo area was wet on the drivers side corner. Now its not the alpines cos I resealed them, so I got investigating (just finished washing it) and noticed these vents that, show signs of letting water in when washing under the guards.
Pic - the black rectangle thinggy with the rubber 'curtains'. You can see water on the bottom row and floor/wall behind the wiring.
Has anyone replace these with a solid unit so it doesnt have the vent rubber 'curtains' that let water in? I dont do deep water crossings, and strangely enough its only on the drivers side.
Want to make sure I dont get water in, so all eats for suggestions.

They're also there for fresh air ventilation flow.
Unfortunately, they also let dust in so they used to get taped up on the press cars.
