    I'll do that on weekend. They still didn't fix it properly. I went back and told them. They said to leave the car there and i told them I don't want them touching it. Still a bit to the right.

    Other thing, they said the bump stops could not be adjusted because there wasn't enough room to adjust on the nuts? Is this possible or are they just talking sh.t and have no idea? Still rubs on the radius arm.

    Another weekend job.

    So that makes steering wheel, bump stops and check the new intercooler hoses for leak and rectify. Sigh.

    Here's a pic of her though. Anyone have same arb bar as me? Will the wheels rub on the front as well? Looks like under flex it may.

    Should be enough adjustment on the steering stops to stop 245/75's on std offset rims rubbing on the radius arm.

    I got new rubber a week or so ago from Bob Jane.
    They must be living in the 80s as well.
    Thats cool i loved the 80s......
    Wait no i didnt! The girls didnt put out much back then. That damn grim reaper on tv all the time!!

    Also i looked into the steering center again as i recalled reading somewhere to do it properly.
    Page 540 of the workshop manual suggests to put the suitable peg into the rear of the drop arm and into the steering box casing to enable rapid and accurate setting on center.

    So thats how i center my wheel.
    I presume that was not done during the alignment.

    i presume they did nothing on the alignment except for the wheels. it's still out of line after the second time. but im not taking it there anymore i dont want them touching it.

    i didnt get any in the 80s either but probably due to the fact that i was only 4 in 1983. still i remember those days fondly, everything was more innocent back then. didnt know there was such a thing as landrover to corrupt me.

    to add to the insult of the tyre guys wheel alignment woes, whilst i was measuring up where to camel cut i had a feel of the loose caps on the wheel nuts because ive never actually taken a wheel off my landrover.

    i was fiddling with them with my fingers when i noticed it turning. turns out i undid the whole nut with my hands. checked the rest of the car. total of 3 finger tight wheel nuts. one of the guys whilst i was there was giving one excuse for it taking so long that they had to find the torque specs for LR. didnt realise on the manual it said to only do up the nuts with your hands.

    rang manager there and he was sure none of hs guys would do that and it was me who was wrong. i told him about all the other issues i had with them too, didnt seem to be interested. contacted tyresales where i got the tyres from via email and wrote them a big complaint and threatened to put bad reviews if they didnt look into it more.

    about 2 hours later the manager from wheel place called back apologising. not sure if tyresales put the wind up them or if he realised he was a d..k. said to bring car down and they see what they can do. told him thanks for calling back but as i mentioned to the other guy the other day, i am not taking my car anywhere near them anymore, ever.

    could have picked a dozen places near me to get them fitted. i know in future i wont go near them. i think they treat tyresales people as second class customers because they are not making a full profit off them.

    PS if you live in perth it was a toyota dealer on wanneroo road in balcatta which did the fitting. they have a tyre section too. the place that had the indian chief on the ads. you know who you are.

    I know the place well Val. Went there last week to source a drivers seat base/cushion for a work Hilux. When they told me $1000 for the seat base, I thought I might just try the wreckers instead.....

    I said i would try keep you informed Frank.

    Had the Bighorns a few weeks now and have pushed them hard. Roads, Snow, Big hills, Rocks, Trees and Mud. Especially on the muddy stuff.

    One thing i keep noticing and i am not happy about is the Bighorns seem to struggle to self clean when in the muddy stuff.
    That coupled with the fact my disco is still only a 2 wheel drive its a problem haha.

    To be fair i do push them very hard. And even when i do get bogged i am able to get out no problem. I think the problem is the fact i dont have a locked diff in the rear yet and the fact they dont clean well.
    Actually i would go as far to say my old ATs cleaned as well as these current ones.

    I ended up damaging the 2 rear tyres already lol. (first hr of driving)
    Fitted flares and cut the guards right back. Apparently not enough

    So am looking to get another 2 tyres in the future and they wont be the Bighorns! (Use the current ones as spares)

    Just thought i would try keep you upto date with them.
    I think to some extent you were correct in what you said.
    They are a big brand name but they dont perform that good.
    Atleast that has been my experience thus far.

    "Isn't longer more important than wider? " she asked.

    White lettering on the outside looks over the top, especially combined with the white tyre spats.

    I've been running 245/75s for 12 years now. Combined with a 2"lift it looks just about right on the D2.

    I am just investigating a set of 235/85s for bush work, on the understanding that longer is more important than wider. Tyres seem very inexpensive at present, despite the low value of the $AUD.
