LR Discovery 300Tdi Tires / Wheels Help

I've finally decided to make some mods on a Disco 300 TDI '94, which was from my father and is "part of the family" since then, so I decided to come here since I need some help.

The idea is to prepare it for some touristic OffRoad courses as well as some trips/expeditions, etc. Nothing extreme such as trial, etc.

I've already installed some front and rear HD bumpers and OME Nitrocharger +2? shocks/springs and meanwhile I'll take care of a camel cut for the new tires.

Regarding tire size I'm quite tending to 235/85R16 which seems to be the 'standard size? for what I've been reading/hearing.

Regarding brand and type I still don't know what to do since I want a multipurpose tire, which isn't too bad on road but capable of going through ?all? kinds of terrain? so I was tending to MT but the question is if they do the same as the AT and more (obviously with a little less mpg) but I'm afraid that it can be too inappropriate for road. It would be nice if it was also good for rain.

I've been thinking on the BFG KM2 but don't know what to do?

And about a steering shock absorver (like Tough Dog RTC) is it necessary/recommendable?

And about wheels? I have the standard Disco steel originals but I was thinking on installing some BOOST or D DISH. Is it a good option? Which one is the best?

Best regards and thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

Depends what your intended use is, for general offroading 245/70 or 245/75 is an ideal size without affecting clearance or gearing.
235/85 is tall so will need a decent lift and will still most likely rub on inner guards.
Any wider than 245 and you will need off set rims and then flares to cover them, the RTC is good for wide/offset rims but is a pain to set up - just go with a standard type quality damper.

just put 245/75 on mine. theres a fresh thread about tyres where you can see pic of them. for mine i still have to do camel cut on the back (look this up on this forum for info). and adjust the steering stops as the tyres rub on the radius arms at full lock. i have also just put on a billstein steering damper. pretty happy with it, very good quality stuff. there's a pic of it somewhere on one of the latest threads as well. i think under the heading bit embarassing. PS i dont have any lift on mine or it was a bit and has sagged.
